UNSUNG & UNTOLD
The Count & His Dutch Masterpiece
SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, 2021
7 PM PST / 10 PM EST
Kontrapunktus proudly presents a beautifully riveting Baroque masterwork that, until 1980, had been misattributed to the wrong composer for more than two centuries. Given its textural Italian brush, scholars believed the "Concerti Armonici" to belong to extraordinarily talented, yet tragic Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, who passed away at 26.
However, the actual writer was an aristocratic Dutch count who moonlighted as a composer, named
Unico Wilhelm Graf van Wassenaer.
The performers of this program are some of the finest young classical musicians in the world who hail from the Colburn School, the Juilliard School and the USC Thornton School of Music-they include:

Haesol LEE - Second Principal Violin
Tiffany KANG - Violin
Alena HOVE - Violin
Rachyl MARTINEZ - Viola
Osheen MANUKYAN - Cello
Marlon MARTINEZ - Double Bass
Arthur OMURA - Harpsichord
Kontrapunktus is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation established for the purpose of "mending divisions" through the universal grace and beauty of classical music. Any and all proceeds we receive are invested to support the production of our classical concerts, which are free and accessible to the general public.
